Hi guys
I hit another cracking 180 today and hit a personal best in 100 at 20.
I hit 21 triples which beat my previous of 20, which
Since my back injury I've had to change everything from stance to grip, everything.
Ive moved to a Van Barneveld type from grip with his type of throw, along with standing far straighter than previous.
It's finally working and to be getting close to my personal best of 115pts is a real motivator for me.
I reckon I could have done it tonight if I'd had 12 less errant darts.
Another integral part is that I've gone back to yoga for my back pain, issues and overall flexibility and motility.
I genuinely recommend it guys!
My old pub team would have me back tomorrow and I'm hoping that if I can get back to a good standard I can rejoin, get competitive matches under my belt again and then start entering local tournaments.
Abywya I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the support guys
Luke

Update:22/11/2019 +180 with Target Keith Deller 21g
Hi guys
Ive been fortunate enough to be able to put in some practice the last few days.
Ive had 600 darts at 20 of which I've had:
180 x 1 (below)
140 x 5
120 x 3
100 x 17
I'm not counting sub 100s now.
It was also great to Christen my new 21g Target Keith Deller's
Ive always had a soft spot for Keith Deller. Think he's so underated and had probbaly the best WC title run ever in beating the top 3 seeds, all 3 World champions (and legends) in 1983
Anyway I'm hoping I can still hit my goals for this before years end (still a month or so left)
On that subject the back is still bad. Perpetual discomfort and random pain or foot burning.
Tbh, I'm grateful I can even hit the board nowadays
As states before if your back goes.... DON'T BE FOBBED OFF. LEAVE IT OR LET THEN DISMISS IT!!!!!
if you do you could be opening yourself up to perpetual, pain, uncomfortability or worse!
Take care everyone

2/10/2019: update on progress and 180!
Hi guys
The problem is consistency, I just don't have it.
Luke
In an effort to try and kick start something I have gone back to the first set of darts I ever had, a set of Simon Whitlock gen 1 in 24g.
I remember buying these and a set of 25g atomised ted Hankeys when I first got into it as I thought those guys looked like great characters (still do)
The problem is consistency, I just don't have it.

13/09/2018: update on progress and recovery
Hi guys
Well after 5 months the specialists have reviewed me and I'm now down to bulging discs.
The nerve issue is a waiting game. Could be month or never before my left foot works again!.
Anyway, onto the darts. Today I recorded 102 PTS at 100 darts at 20. My best in probay a year or more (best is 115).
Hit:
140x2
100x5
80x4
So 14 triples in total.
With only 26 misses for an accuracy of 74%.
At the moment I'm still only good for 100 darts before the pain kicks in but its heartening that I can still hit 100+.
Anyway thank you for your support and kind words, I'll keep you posted

The road to recovery: week 1 update and a 180!
Hi guys
As I await my MRI in August, to stave off the utter feeling of uselessness I've set myself a few small targets as I try to recover.
Obviously the MRI will potentially tell me what I need to do (I don't want major spinal surgery!) and I'm hoping extensive long-term rehab is the answer (I'm stretching an hour a day) however I've set myself some little darts goals to achieve by xmas:
1. Hit another 180
2. Best my precious of 100 at 20 (which was 115 in October 2018)
3. Hit an average over 70 in a match
4. Practice at least 1 hr a week
5. Hit under 15 darter
At the moment I can only manage about 100 darts and 15 minutes a day before my body plays up.
It's only week 1, however my best at 100 at 20 is 92.
I did hit a peach of a 180 though:
So goal 1 achieved.
Not bad for a guy who rattles due to so many meds and an atrophied leg 8).
The plan is to try and do 15 minutes a day build up, and see where it takes me.......hopefully better than ever!
All the best

Update on back injury
Hi guys
Hellacious week, I feel like I'm rattling
8 x 30mg codeine a day, 2 x naproxen, 3 x diazepan, 2 x amitriptyline a day and still clocking up only 3 hrs sleep a night
Took a day off the meds to guage a true status of where im at..... It nearly landed me back in hospital.
Tell you what this has seriously made me determined make 2020 my best darts year ever and compete in a bdo or pdc event!
We only get a limited window in life guys........ Make the most of it and do everything you can and you can take nothing for granted!

Another back relapse - back to square 1
Hi guys
Almost 3 months to the day of suffering that major disc issue it resurfaced Saturday totally random.
Can't go to work, can't sit down, can't lay down. It's a nightmare
Everyone take heed of your back and get it checked out immediately if you feel something is wrong and what's more look after it.
This could be operation time or anything.
Appreciate your health guys, its easy to take for granted, however when it goes everything that came so easy suddenly doesn't.
Take care
Luke

Reason I haven't posted: major nerve and back problems!!!
Hi guys
I just thought I would update you as to why there hasn't been much posting and content by me.
A few months ago I ended up in Casualty (Ed, A+E) by emergency ambulance.
My back had gone and they misdiagnosed me. After 18 hours I was sent home and i am now seeing a spinal specialist as I've damaged a nerve in my back.
I hadnt done anything to bring it on, so it was a shock and considering all the problems I had 10 years ago, obviously it is of great concern.
This has given me chronic pain for 9 weeks, and I have 'drop foot', muscle atrophy in leg and can't move foot properly amongst other things.
For 2 months walking was a major issue let alone darts.
I hope I'm on the road to recovery and seeing a spinal specialist in a few weeks.
There is a chance this is permanent and I'll always have an issue with my left leg and won't be able to move foot properly.
This is something I'll have to work out and it may mean I have to totally rethink how I play.
Just wanted to give you a heads up and to thank you for still visiting my blog.
Kind regards
Luke

Finally own a set of datadart ted Hankeys!
Hi guys
I finally got them!!!!!!
The darts I've been after for 5 years, the discontinued and rare Datadart Ted Hankeys.
Ive missed out on ebay when a few of them in used condition in higher weights have gone for silly money (£50+) and so to get them brand new from the man himself signed is a result on every level.
These are the darts I intend to always use and wear smooth like Ted did with his originals.
These are a stunning dart in 16g that I'll convert to steel tip.
Words can't express how thrilled I am to finally have a set
Id love to be able to throw them as well as Hankey did in 1998-2001 so let's see!
I'll update you how I get on with them

Never stop believing: my update
Hi guys
Just thought I'd give you a quick update.
My darts playing is literally all over the place at the moment.
It's really quite strange in that I'm. Hitting at least 1 x 180 per 30 min practice (not bad for someone whose an amateur) however my overall accuracy seems to be 'shot'. I am either bang on grouping or way off!!
Im starting to dedicate more. Time to practice and have put my working out on the back burner to see how well I can get my game up in 2019.
I am suffering from a few injuries though that is hampering me.
My back has been playing me up for 2 months and I'm also suffering from a shoulder and biceps pull.
Hopefully as my body relaxs and heals ill be able to put it together and play a tournie either end of year or early 2020.
Glen Durrant purring it together over the last 3 years when in late 40s and Darren Webster hitting the top 16 aged 50 has inspired me to make the effort as I've just turned 38.
One thing I will say though guys is:
NEVER STOP BELIEVING!
haters will hate but they're not the ones who have to live with themselves and maybe go to their grave wishing they had done or achieved something.
Never let anyone tell you, you can't do something!
Honestly guys not just darts but in life itself it IS worth putting the effort in.
Anyway I wish you all the best
Luke

Big congratulations Glen Durrant the new 3x BDO World Champion 2019
Hi guys
Just wanted to say a HUGE well done to Glen Durrant on winning the 2019 BDO world championship.
In doing so Duzza becomes a 3x world champion and first BDO player since the legendary Eric Bristow (84,85,86) 30+ years ago to win 3 on the bounce (17,18,19)
Duzza now joins an elite group who have won it more than twice (listed in order of who did it first) :
Taylor: 16
Bristow:5
Van Barneveld:5
Lowe:3
Part:3
Adams:3
MVG:3
Duzza 3
What does Duzza do now? Join the PDC or go for number 4?
